Accessibility Info: Unfortunately the Winchester Street Theatre is not currently wheelchair accessible. There are three steps outside of the front entrance, a small platform, and then three more steps to the lobby (a straight hallway that then leads you to the theatre). To access the private gender-neutral restrooms, there are five additional steps at the end of the lobby. The seats in the theatre are on risers with stairs; please contact info@tdt.org if you have any questions regarding accessing our space.

Expanding on our existing support programs for Toronto dance artists, TDT’s pilot initiative provides subsidized studio rental hours, funded through the Toronto Arts Council / Open Door grant program.

This project offers artists who identify as belonging to TAC’s priority groups, and/or artists currently working on a project without or little funding to book TDT’s studios at a reduced rate of 10$ per hour.

2025-26 OPEN DOOR PROJECT – BOOKING REQUEST FORM

Requests are being accepted on a rolling basis.

Additional Info:

  • A $25 deposit is required to secure bookings
  • We welcome requests from artists of any dance form / body based practices who meet the eligibility criteria
  • Studios are equipped with Marley flooring; tap and flamenco shoes are permitted in select studios, subject to availability

In response to the critical need for affordable rehearsal spaces in Toronto, this project aims to lay the foundation for TDT’s studios to be used more frequently by artists who traditionally face financial barriers in accessing dance space. Each participating artist will be invited to complete a survey at the end of their rental, allowing their valuable feedback to shape future models for renting TDT spaces in better supporting independent artists.

Thank you!

This pilot program is generously funded by the City of Toronto through the Toronto Arts Council’s Open Door grant program. TDT is grateful for their support in making this initiative possible.
