Things to be aware of when attending in-person activities:
- Vaccinations: TDT has implemented a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy as of September 22, 2021. All patrons, artists and staff are required to be fully vaccinated and must show proof of vaccination along with valid I.D. when attending or participating in a program. Please carefully review the policy below for full details.
- Face Coverings: Patrons and staff are required to wear masks at all times. Even if you are vaccinated, you are still required to wear a face mask that covers your nose, mouth and chin.
- Sanitation: There is a hand sanitizing station when you enter the lobby at the Winchester Street Theatre. There is also a sanitizing station in every studio within the facility.
- Reduced Contact: As much as possible, interactions between TDT staff and patrons will be contactless. This includes ticket scanning and box office transactions.
- Physical Distancing: Signage and/or markers will be in place throughout the Winchester Street Theatre and its studios to encourage physical distancing when possible.
Please do not attend an in-person event or class if you have a fever or are experiencing any other symptoms of COVID-19, have tested positive for COVID-19 within 14 days of attending, or have been in close contact with someone suspected or confirmed of having COVID-19.
Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination Policy
Alongside the Toronto Dance Foundation and The School of Toronto Dance Theatre, TDT has implemented a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all persons entering its premises at the Winchester Street Theatre (80 Winchester St.). This policy adheres to the recent announcement by the Government of Ontario that all non-essential businesses, including theatres, fitness facilities and event venues, will require proof of vaccination as of September 22, 2021. Going forward, and until further notice, patrons, artists and class participants attending public activities at Toronto Dance Theatre will be required to be fully vaccinated. The health and safety of our staff, performers and patrons is the highest priority.
HOW IT WORKS
When buying tickets or registering for activities with TDT, patrons will be required to review the terms of the COVID-19 Vaccination Policy before being able to complete the order. Prior to the event date, they will receive a follow-up email with instructions for providing proof of vaccination. At this time, regulations require patrons to show their second-dose vaccine receipt along with a valid photo I.D. card. Be prepared to show this each time you enter the building. Please do not send in advance as we cannot store this information on your file.
The COVID-19 Vaccination Policy will be implemented as an open-ended one. In other words, changes or reversals can be made to the policy, informed by updates relating to infection rates, transmission data, variant developments, and local, provincial and federal regulations.
HOW DO I GET PROOF OF VACCINATION?
Paper and electronic records from your clinic or pharmacy that shows your name and date of vaccination will be accepted. Records can also be printed or accessed through the Government of Ontario’s Provincial Portal.
Be prepared to show this each time you enter the building. Please do not send in advance as we cannot store this information on your file. No health record information will be scanned, stored, or shared.
WHAT IF I AM EXEMPT FROM GETTING VACCINATED?
Any patron needing an exemption due to a medical condition or disability will need to complete TDT’s COVID-19 Vaccination Exemption Accommodation Form and bring the signed form with you to the event.
For medical exemptions, the patron will need to bring a written medical certificate from a physician or nurse practitioner advising with an independent and objective opinion that the person should not get the COVID-19 vaccination due to a medical contraindication. The medical certificate must also set out the effective time period for the medical exemption.
The patron requiring reasonable accommodation will also need to provide proof of a negative COVID test (molecular, PCR) that was administered by an official testing center to the event. The test must be taken no more than 72 hours prior to entry. Rapid test results will not be accepted for entry.
WHAT ABOUT PATRONS UNDER THE AGE OF 12?
As the vaccine has not been approved for use on kids under age 12, when coming to a performance or event that is under 2 hours, people under the age of 12 will need to complete a COVID-19 self-assessment screening form and be asymptomatic. For all other situations, the need for PCR testing will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
WILL I STILL HAVE TO WEAR A MASK?
Yes, masks will still be required inside our building. We will continue to follow Public Health guidance in this regard.
I HAVE NO INTENTION OF GETTING VACCINATED. WHAT HAPPENS NOW?
Our vaccination policy was created with the safety of all of our patrons and community in mind. Until further notice, you will not be permitted inside the Winchester Street Theatre. If you require an exemption due to a medical condition or disability please see above.
