Interested in renting space at Winchester Street Theatre?

June 7, 2023

*Deadline to submit Expression of Interest has been extended to Friday June 30 at 11:59 p.m. EST*

The Winchester Street Theatre, home of Toronto Dance Theatre, is going through an exciting transition. With the departure of our long-time sister organization and co-tenants, Dance Arts Institute (formerly The School of Toronto Dance Theatre), space at Winchester has become more readily available to serve a greater array of dance artists, organizations and community groups.

As TDT and the Toronto Dance Foundation explore opportunities for future renters and co-tenants in our space, we want to hear from our colleagues in the dance community. If you are an independent artist, community group, or dance organization looking for rehearsal, office, or performance space, we invite you to submit a short expression of interest.

As one of Toronto’s only purpose-built spaces for dance, we are committed to stewarding this vital venue into an even more impactful hub for dance, ensuring its future as a space for dance creation, research, performance, and presentation. More information about the Winchester Street Theatre can be found online.

In the short- and medium-term, Toronto Dance Theatre is interested in welcoming new renters (both small and large, from a wide range of budget sizes) and key co-tenants as early as fall 2023. While we endeavour upon this important deliberation and planning process, learning about the needs, interests and goals of our colleagues across the dance ecosystem is an important initial step.

If you are prospectively interested in using space at the Winchester Street Theatre in the coming season(s), we invite you to submit a short expression of interest by Friday June 30.

Following that date, TDT will be in touch with colleagues to learn more about their needs and assess compatibility with the currently available space. If you have any questions about this process, please be in touch with Associate Producer Jasmine Au at jasmine@tdt.org.
