Tune in for final premiere event of TDT’s digital series, TD Bridgemakers Project, featuring creative duo Erin Ball (Kingston, Ontario) and Gaitrie Persaud (Toronto, Ontario)!

Exploring aerial arts, music, Deaf interpretation, and creative access for Blind and partially sighted audiences, this is a work-in-progress sharing of the collaborative process between Erin and Gaitrie, supported by Toronto Dance Theatre.

For this event, audiences will be the first to experience Erin and Gaitrie’s collaboration, followed by a live conversation with the artists.

About the creative duo

Erin Ball

ERIN BALL (she/her) is a Queer, Mad (from the Mad Pride movement) and double below knee amputee circus artist. She is white, a treaty inhabitant, and is based in Katarokwi/Kingston, Ontario. She runs Kingston Circus Arts and is the co-founder of LEGacy Circus (a performance company co-created with Mad artist, Vanessa Furlong). Erin achieved Disability membership in 2014 and took a year off. She currently thinks a lot about Disability theories and creative access in relation to performance. She travels internationally to perform, teach, and collaborate, and has recently spent time learning about the digital realm and the accessibility it offers.

Gaitrie Persaud

Gaitrie Persaud

GAITRIE PERSAUD (she/her), a Torontian, lives and breathes acting and that is reflected in her amazing identity.

She has been breaking down barriers to have AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETATION provided at music concerts. She has won Air Canada Center’s and CBC entertainment’s attention. Gaitrie is a firm believer in creating opportunities for the Deaf Community and young deaf children.

Her creation strives to increase the overall impact to provide the excitement of adventure to the deaf/hard hearing Community with the musical by ASL interpretations.

In her free time, Gaitrie likes to write, do dance and acting, listen to music with lyrics and of course, she is currently in development on the script with her partner, expanding her creative reach and platforms. She is the founder of PHOENIX THE FIRE.
