Wandering Star

A New TDT Production

Solo Creations by TDT company dancers
Music Direction and Curation by New Chance

Inspired by the seven classical planets—ancient “wandering stars” that have sparked human curiosity and imagination for centuries—this new TDT production brings together 7 company dancers with 7 electronic musicians in a series of newly created solos for TDT’s mainstage.

Through expansive imagery of the planets and the otherworldly textures of electronic music, each dancer and musician will develop an individual work through a process of cross-disciplinary exchange, shaped by a shared spirit of exploration, play and discovery. Movement and sound orbit around one another, creating unexpected encounters between bodies, rhythms and sonic worlds.

Eccentric, euphoric and sometimes strange, Wandering Star unfolds as a constellation of singular worlds. Shimmering beside one another: autonomous yet connected, held together by invisible forces, shared frequencies and the pull of something just beyond reach. Bringing Toronto’s dance and electronic music communities into the same orbit, Wandering Star becomes a space for collective dreaming—a gathering of bodies, signals, rhythms and imaginations, constellating and re-constellating in the dark.
