Winchester Street Theatre , 80 Winchester Street (VIEW MAP)

Accessibility Info: Unfortunately the Winchester Street Theatre where TDT is based is not currently wheelchair accessible.
There are three steps outside of the front entrance, a small platform, and then three more steps to the lobby (a straight hallway that then leads you to the theatre). To access the private gender-neutral restrooms, there are five additional steps at the end of the lobby. The seats in the theatre are on risers with stairs; please contact info@tdt.org if it is more comfortable to have a seat near the front to reduce the number of steps.
To access the studio on the bottom floor of the building (Studio B), there are 3 steps, a small platform, and then another staircase with 10 steps.

TDT invites dance and movement artists to apply for three artistic development and residency opportunities this upcoming 2026/27 season. Whether you’re looking to explore an emerging idea, develop your artistic practice, conceptualize a work-in-progress, or gain dedicated studio space, our residency programs are designed to support artists at different stages of creation.

Pilot Episodes: An Experimental Lab
Throughout the 2026/27 Season

Selected choreographers will have their first opportunity to collaborate with TDT’s company dancers in the 7th edition of Pilot Episodes. An immersive multi-day residency series, each creator will get to experiment and take artistic risks in the studio without the pressure of producing a finished work. This unique residency format provides artists with an enriching environment conducive to pushing the boundaries of their choreographic techniques, fostering a deep exploration of their creative process and allowing for a concentrated focus on refining their artistic approach.

Eyes On Beginnings: A Works-In-Progress Series
Fall 2026 Edition: Saturday November 28, 2026
Spring 2027 Edition: Saturday April 17, 2027

Eyes on Beginnings is not a presentation platform in the traditional sense. It is designed for artists who are experimenting with something new and are in the beginning phases of development. Selected artists will have up to 10 minutes to share their explorations followed by a feedback session with a facilitator and audience members. Artists will be provided access to studio space leading up to the sharing and consulted before the presentation on the type of feedback that would best support the development of their work.

Applications for Pilot Episodes and Eyes On Beginnings are open until Friday July 24, 2026 at 11:59 PM ET.

Plug-N-Play Residencies
Throughout the 2026/27 Season

These residencies provide week-long, half-day studio access, free of charge for choreographers and creators working in body-centred practices. Whether deepening an existing project, developing a new idea, need space in preparation for an upcoming sharing or presentation, or looking for a large studio to collaborate and experiment in, this program offers dedicated time and space to focus on the creative process. Selected artists will have access to TDT’s studio, including basic audio and general lighting, to support their artistic practice in a professional rehearsal environment.

Applications for Plug-N-Play Residencies are open until Friday, July 31, 2026 at 11:59 PM ET.

These programs welcome applications from artists across Canada. We encourage all applicants to review the full program, submission details, and schedules before applying.
