Toronto Dance Theatre is committed to creating meaningful cultural and learning experiences for our audiences. We offer several programs for students and the public which aim to contextualize our performances, demystify the creative process, break down common misconceptions about contemporary dance, and make the art form accessible to a wide range.

Designed to give students a taste of contemporary dance from both sides of the curtain and to show the breadth of the company’s diverse repertoire, Studio Series comprises a 45 minute performance for students in the Winchester Street Theatre, followed by a 60 minute movement class that is team taught by TDT Company members. Get ready to exercise your body and mind!

These special student performances are introduced and contextualized by Artistic Director Christopher House and include time for dialogue between artists and the audience. No previous dance experience is required. Suitable for grades 7-12.

I felt like a true dancer being in the space that professional dancers work in, create in, and perform in. The live musicians were a cherry on top of the well-rounded experience. The instructors even treated us as dancers and put us in a mind frame that all you need to do is try your best without the judgement of those around you or even yourself.
